The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart. - Maya Angelou This collection is a mixture of beautifully dark free verse poems, as well as delicate, lustful poems with bountiful imagery. The author's passion for life and language is evident in this collection, which was heavily inspired by poets such as Audre Lorde, Mary Oliver, Rainer Maria Rilke, and E.E. Cummings, just to name a few.
