In spite of the fact that Nepal and China have a long history of political, social, economic and cultural relations, until this time, no thorough research has been done on Nepal-China relations from the time of their inception until 1955 A.D. In fact, Nepal-India relations have been a subject of exhaustive studies for research scholars, and to some extent Nepal-Tibet relations have also drawn their attention, whereas Nepal-China relations from their earliest time till 1955 A.D. have been virtually untouched. In view of this, this study has been undertaken to make an in-depth study of Nepal-China relations from ancient times until 1955 A.D. The main objective of this study is to analyse and interpret the overall relations between Nepal and China from a historical perspective, and to present an overall picture of Nepals political, diplomatic, cultural, social and economic relations with China from the earliest times till 1955.
