Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the War of Jenkins' Ear, which was a conflict between Great Britain and Spain. It lasted from 1739 to 1748, with major operations largely ended by 1742. Its name was coined by Thomas Carlyle in 1858, relating to the captain of a British merchant ship, Robert Jenkins, who exhibited his severed ear in Parliament following the boarding of his vessel by Spanish coast guards in 1731. This affair and a number of similar incidents sparked a war against the Spanish Empire. Read about the war including the battles of Puerto Cabello, La Guaira, Santiago de Cuba, and much more. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added.
