Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Algae fuel, also called algal fuel is a biofuel which is derived from algae. During photosynthesis, algae and other photosynthetic organisms capture carbon dioxide and sunlight and convert it into oxygen and biomass. The vegoil algae product can then be harvested and converted into biodiesel or green-colored crude oil. The algae's carbohydrate content can be fermented into bioethanol and biobutanol. Research into algae for the mass-production of oil is mainly focused on microalgae; organisms capable of photosynthesis. Most companies pursuing algae as a source of biofuels pump nutrient-laden water through plastic tubes that are exposed to sunlight and so called photobioreactors. This book studies algae fuel including diatoms, algenols, SERI microalgae culture collection, and algal nutrient solutions. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. Less
