Richard Avedon, one of the most influential editorial photographers of his time, has helped define and develop the world of editorial and fashion photography through his unique minimalist style. Avedon has worked with several celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Brooke Shields, Andy Warhol, Sly Stone, The Beatles, and Gianni Versace, as well as plenty of experience with publications such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Life, and The New Yorker. Other non-fashion works, like documenting the civil rights movement and the Berlin Wall, have been explored in addition to his already impressive portfolio. This book takes a look at his subject matter, experience with popular publications, photographic style (including the large format view camera), early career with the Merchant Navy, and awards such as the Prix Nadar.
