In the thriller Burnt Offerings, a widowed burn unit doctor is suddenly cast into a web of deceit just as he finds the courage to start a new life.

Doctor Brian Fogerty is going through the motions of living, ignoring his friends and family, and immersing himself in his work. Emotionally withdrawn since his wife died in a car accident six months earlier, Fogerty is called to examine the badly burned body of a woman and is abruptly thrust into the midst of a bizarre series of murders that force him to interact with an old detective buddy and his dead wife's best friend. Through these rekindled friendships, Fogerty starts to break down the wall that has been protecting him from the outside world. As he helps his friend solve the murders, he finds new love with a colleague and realizes he must face not only his wife's untimely death, but also the agonizing decision whether to settle down again or strike out on a fresh path.

Just as Dr. Fogerty thinks his future is looking brighter, he must come to grips with the fact that obsessions have consequences and that no one can ever run far enough away from the past. Less
