The issues of who fetches water and for what purpose; where the water is obtained and how; and what is involved in water fetching; and issues of gender, are vital. This study outlines the end-use perspective of urbanwater demand and examines how it can influence water demand, technologyand planning. One objective is to enlighten policymakers on variousparameters to be included in forecasting future water demand and in theprocess of making new decisions on water supply investment. Chaptersinclude water demand in the different environments: domestic, industrial, hotels, gardening and urban agriculture, brick making, car washing andpetrol stations.
