Don Pablo and the soap bubbles' is a book with a special intensity, like its plot, between the magical, the fantastic and the real. With this writing one goes on a journey both physical and metaphorical and discovers how even at the end of life it is possible to learn and grow again, reaching a higher level of awareness. The author's writing is very beautiful, flowing and capable of being followed with pleasure and interest. Vivid, the descriptions pierce the pages, no matter what topic Loreto is dealing with at that moment through the narrative voice of her protagonist, everything acquires value, depth, importance. Don Pablo, the main character and our Virgil in this literary journey, is a man not too old if you like, compared to today's standards, but he is not well and moreover has Alzherimer's as a burden, a disease that leaves no escape from memories, one of today's great terrors. Moving, profound is the portrait of Pablo, in the novel we see him struggle to centre his thoughts, to remain anchored in who he is and those around him. The faces that have no name, the desire to communicate something and no longer being able to grasp the object of desire. Strong, they are passages that enter inside, although they are rendered with a pen of supreme delicacy and dignity. Alongside this, the past, the memories, the travels, the experiences and encounters, which are still there, still available far more than what happened a short time before. And again the fairytale magic of soap, which when bitten gives life to a bubble that takes you away, literally, where anything is possible. There is so much beauty in this novel. Where one would think that there is only melancholy and pain, Incredible? And yet possible. This novel surprises, teaches, cheers, takes away. It is what you do not expect.A formative read, one that is drinkable.BiographyLoreto Gonzalez-PintoBilbao 1967She was predestined to travel, her name predicted it, Mary of Loreto, patron saint of aviation pilots. In the 1980s, when she was only eighteen, she made her first trip, to India, and thus began her wanderings through many Asian countries.Moving around in rickety buses and sharing food on dusty trains, always in search of paradise, he travelled the length and breadth of Asia, reducing his periods in Europe to holidays to visit relatives. From antique dealer to tour guide in Tibet, Nepal and India, she always found ways to stay for long periods away from the hustle and bustle of the globalised western world. One day on one of her travels she met love and moved to Italy, to Asti to be exact, where she lives and pursues her passions: music (she sings in a rock band, Almostgone), painting and writing. She shares her principles based on planetary solidarity with her friends and world.
