The structure of the British Army is broadly similar to that of the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, being divided into two Commands. As top-level budget holders, HQ Land Forces and the Adjutant-General are responsible for providing forces at operational readiness for employment by the Permanent Joint Headquarters. The command structure is hierarchical with divisions and brigades controlling groupings of units from an administrative perspective. Major Units are regiment or battalion-sized with minor units being either company sized sub-units or platoons. This book studies formations of the British army including HQ land forces, Royal Corps of Signals, King's division, Guards division, and 1st mechanized brigade.
