In its half-century of existence, NASA has changed the way Americans study space. No longer is the contemplation of the heavens relegated to stargazing through telescopes, with the advent of space travel, scientists can now journey into space and look down at Earth as they once looked up at the stars. This book introduces over twenty of the most notable astronauts in NASA history including Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Sally Ride.
