Industrial and organizational (I/O) psychologists have long been interested in individual differences but have usually focused on differences in cognitive abilities. In the last several years, however, there has been an explosion of interest in noncognitive individual differences. I/O psychologists are now considering a much wider range of individual difference variables such as personality, orientation, interests, and values - and are linking them to a greater number of potential outcomes in such areas as organizational citizenship and commitment to the organization and the job. Individual Differences and Behavior in Organizations pulls together existing research and stimulates new ways of thinking about how individual differences affect people's behaviors and experiences in organizations.
