Murder investigations are rare in the Capital. Commander Nolander finds himself with three of them on his hands now. Someone has assassinated retired comrades of the Emperor. There are no clues to the efficient killer’s identity or motives, and the fact that the murders occurred has been concealed from the general population.
Imperial Intelligence is severely stretched by the sheer number of threats to the Empire, foreign and internal. Nevertheless, the Chief assigns the most unique agent the Empire has ever had to assist Nolander and the Capital Militia.
Set a thief to catch a thief, so the old expression goes. Who better to pursue an assassin than the person whose deeds became a legend that haunts them and their masters? The Instrument has been unleashed.
