For many years Gaye Hemsley has worked with children and adults as a dance teacher. She believes dancing and writing are a happy marriage both requiring a creative mind. She has published several picture books. For her seventh birthday she published a book of poems of her life experiences. A lot of her ideas come in the middle of the night so she keeps a pen and paper handy to jot thoughts down. Out walking is also inspiriting; a poem will come to her so she sends it to herself via mobile phone. Gaye is affectionately known to the children in her life as Nana Gaye Surrounded by enchanting scenery in the Bay of Plenty in the North Island of New Zealand certainly gives her motivation to continue writing.
