History provides us with countless tales of civilizations that have come and gone. But not all of them have complete explanations. Some lands are the stuff of legends: Camelot and El Dorado. Others we know to have existed, but were suddenly wiped out, like Pompeii and Herculaneum. Phantom islands have been known to appear to spring up on some maps and then vanish. And some, like the city of Atlantis, have countless explanations.

Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added.
