This story tells of Lucinda through the eyes of a family friend and aquaintence of her husband not to be as sihe takes flight on her wedding day and her story isn't fully discovered until the Frst World War when we find her again in South America. The story is well written and generally flows well, fitting with other works of the time where it is there characters that drive the story more than events within the story itself. Much of the events told of are told between characters after the fact with much discussion and insinuation as to the details of what really happened and what each person was really thinking or feeling. An interesting read that gives an insight into the middle to upper class world and their etiquettes of the time but one that is difficult to relate to nowadays, especially the rather restricted role of women and the response of many as they begin to break the mould and make their own decisions.
