Prom night was meant for dancing not dying. Victory High- a Christian private school - was no different than most schools. The typical stereo-types were all present – The Jocks, the Band Geeks, the Book Nerds, the Mean Girls. Through Maddie’s eyes we witness the day-to-day interactions of her friends and other groups.Real issues challenge the young adults as they try and figure out how to make it through the awkward high school years. Kids are picked on- flat out bullied. Social media cranks up the severity and the audience as one girl in particular is pushed to her breaking point.#OutOfTheAshes – a 40,000 word young adult novella- sheds a spotlight on bullying. As a result of the events, the main character, Maddie Thompson, creates a movement – The #StoneWallWarrior – and commits to never ignoring a friend in need.Victory High will lead the charge in creating a better world by simply following the Golden Rule.
