Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Concerning itself with the places and lifestyle mentioned in the Bible, Biblical archaeology not only seeks to find locations and artifacts, but also attempts to prove in turn that those locations are existent and biblically real. Whether used for biblical studies or historical reconstruction, biblical archaeology has become more sociological and less a search for the realia of biblical life. The debate is between Biblical maximalists who assume that the Bible is historically correct, and Biblical minimalists who view the Bible as mostly myth. This book explores the methods and theory of biblical archaeology, the archaeological periods concerned and some of the archaeological sites and excavations of interest. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. Less
