It was one of the last works Sir Thomas Browne wrote before his death in 1682 and the Manuscript, after having been mislaid either by Dr Edward Browne or by Archbishop Tenison, was first printed at Cambridge in 1716.The Editor was John Jeffery, Archdeacon of Northwich, who published the work ''from the original and correct Manuscript of the Author, ''this manuscript embodying the concluding paragraphs of a letter to friend (1690).
