Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. In meteorology, precipitation is any product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapor that falls under gravity. The main forms of precipitation include rain, snow, sleet, hail and graupel. It occurs when a local portion of the atmosphere becomes saturated with water vapour and the water condenses. Two processes, possibly acting together, can lead to air becoming saturated: cooling the air or adding water vapour to the air. This book studies the processes of the formation of precipitation including coalescence, supercooling, freezing rain, hail cannon, and ice crystals. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. Less
