J. J. Meldon's hurriedly grabs a few newspaper and rushes to get on the train before it leaves the station. He ends up in a first class compartment with a woman traveling by alone. J. J. discovers she too is on her way to Ballymoy where he will be spending his holiday with his friend Major Kent. By the time they arrive he has come to the conclusion she wishes to hide her identity. After spending time with the Major discovers, the community has a problem with Simpkins and J.J. has come up with a plan to remove him.
