A story of Bat Masterson in the old west, written in the day by his friend, Alfred Henry Lewis. The narrative stars such well know names as Wild Bill Hickok, the Earp brothers - Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan - and Doc Holiday. They all enliven the history of the legendary town of Dodge. His baptismal name was William Barclay, but he was known throughout that wide-flung region lying between the Platte and the Rio Grande, the Missouri and the Mountains, as "Bat." This honor fell to the boyish share of Mr. Masterson because his quick eye, steady hand, and stealthy foot rendered him invincible against bears and buffaloes.
