This edition features illustrations Two complete novels a linked Table of Contents CONTENTS The Witch of Prague Casa Braccio About the Author F.(FRANCIS) MARION CRAWFORD [1854-1909] studied at St Paul's School, Concord, NH, Cambridge University, University of Heidelberg, and Harvard University. In 1882, his first novel, Mr Isaacs, was an immediate success. In 1883, he lived in New York and Boston and then moveded to Italy, where he made his permanent home. In 1898, he published Ave Roma Immortalis, a history. In 1900, he published Sicily, Calabria and Malta, another history. In 1905, he published Gleanings from Venetian History. Most of his other works are historical novels. "The Saracinesca series is perhaps known to be his best work, with the third in the series, Don Orsino, set against the background of a real estate bubble, told with effective concision. A fourth book in the series, Corleone, was the first major treatment of the Mafia in literature, and used the now-familiar but then-original device of a priest unable to testify to a crime because of the Seal of the Confessional." -Wikipedia Less
