Regina worries too much, but it's her job. She's a widow. Who else will worry about her daughters? Not only is she worried about her younger daughter losing her virginity, in Regina's opinion the only thing she has to offer, before Regina can marry her off. She's also worried that sooner or later some crisis will occur, and her elder daughter, who selfishly married for love instead of money, will have to move back in with her husband and baby. Regina can't support them all with what she earns working in a factory. She would do anything to ensure their happiness--but what can she do except worry? Regina's niece presents one more complication. She will visit NYC with a reluctant fiance in tow, reluctant because he worries she's not respectable enough. He's not that respectable himself, but in Regina's view that's less important. She knows that whatever he's heard is probably right, a result of those pesky genes shared by all the women in the family, even her, which makes them do things they shouldn't do. Less
