The book analyses the basis of "archetypal criticism" in literature which states that a text's meaning is shaped by cultural and psychological myths called archetypes. Archetypes are the unknowable basic forms personified or concretized in recurring images, symbols, or patterns which may include motifs, recognizable character types, symbols, or images which are already laden with religious, cultural or social meanings when employed in a text.

To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. Less
