In 1984, mushers organized the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race between Fairbanks and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Soon, mushers adopted an unofficial race motto, Survive first, race second.The Quest trail boasts fewer checkpoints, longer wilderness runs, and more campouts.
