I am certainly not alone in nurturing this curiosity, nor do I pretend to justify the strangeness-others say impropriety-of this exaggerated taste. I see it, and nothing more. No lawsuit of any importance pleads unless I am immediately on the lookout for the smallest details, the most insignificant particularities. As soon as the case is started, I form an opinion, I discuss the accusation, I establish the pleadings, I anticipate the verdict, and it is a real satisfaction of self-esteem when I did not deceived.
