When Joshua Peterson's dad was thrown in prison eight years ago, it seemed sure that he would never see him again. Yet, when Josh starts having nightmares which are reliving his past, he begins to wonder if God is trying to warn him. When his dad shows up on his door step with a new family things begin to change fast. Held by his past and angered at the changes he sees in his dad with his new family he can only wonder what is so wrong with him that would cause his dad to hate him bad enough to beat him so severely. When his dad insists that he move in with him it only brings more tension into their relation ship. Then when Josh realizes that he has fallen in love with his previous foster sister things begin to get a little sticky. This matter is only complicated when his old foster family moves away without a trace. Josh is left to wonder will he ever see Joy again? Will his past always hold him back? And what is it that his dad is so afraid of? Why does he worry that Josh will end up like his mother?
