Communion, Eucharist, the Lord's Supper-these are three names for the same rite. Inaugurated by Christ himself, the breaking of bread is a meal shared by the faithful in the community of faith. Written with grade-school children in mind, Take and Eat invites those about to First Communion to explore the history and meaning of the history and meaning of the Sacrament of the Lord's Table. At the same time, parents and sponsors are encouraged to reflect on their own Baptism and contemplate the mystery of salvation that is tied to the receiving of this bread and wine.
