When it was first published in 1940, The Parables of Christ was the only work of its kind in any language. It remains so today. Complete and comprehensive, it contains every version of all 56 of Our Lord's parables as they are recounted in one or more of the synoptic gospels (John's gospel contains no parables). The texts are followed by illuminating discussions of the parable's context and setting, the doctrines it illustrates, what it tells us about Christ and His Kingdom, and its many-faceted applications to the moral and spiritual life of every Christian. Also included are an explanation of why and how Jesus used parables, and the rules and principles for interpreting them.
