After giving the order to kill her brother, a queen deserts her rule…Queen Luned has suffered unimaginable hardship, raped, beaten then kept alive in a circle of standing stones by Iagan, a Northguard and sorcerer. When she is struck another blow, she leaves Stonemuir and goes north to Nordreyja. She is taken in by Iagan's family, by his father, Haakon, king of Nordreyja. When Iagan follows, she comes to know this man who saved her. And to love him. But all is not as it should be in Nordreyja A nidstang has been erected, cursing the isles. Wolves attack all who venture beyond the town, wolves that Haakon believes herald Ragnarok, the end of the world. Iagan and his brothers must discover what the wolves really are and stop them.
