Alfred Assollant , sometimes written Assolant , born in Aubusson (Creuse) on March 20 , 1827and died in Paris on March 3 , 18861 , is a French novelist , author of novels for youth .Bachelor of Arts, he began by teaching history in Paris and some other cities but, having drawn the wrath of his rector for his republican views , he sought to ensure a freer life in North America and undertook a trip to the United States . Disappointed, he returned to Paris where, in 1858 , he published under the title Scenes of Life of the United States several news which aroused interest by their life and their local color. Subsequently, there was a succession of novels and short stories in which there was a certain indifference to order and measure and a taste for paradox and wit.
