The nature of social problems of modern India are deeply rooted in the changes occurred in the society during the last two hundred years. For a long time very few knew about the problems of Indian society. The processes of westernisation, industrialisation, formal education, commercialisation and modernisation have contributed towards the emergence of new situations which are incompatible with the traditional ways of living.
